The recent milestone from Eve Air Mobility—surpassing 50 test flights—would have been headline-defining a year ago. Today, it’s something else: expected.

That’s because Eve is no longer alone.


Across the industry, multiple OEMs are now flying, testing, and refining their aircraft in parallel. Joby Aviation continues progressing through FAA certification pathways with piloted operations. BETA Technologies is not only flying its aircraft, but pairing those flights with real-world charging infrastructure deployments. Archer Aviation is aligning flight testing with commercial timelines tied to federal programs.


Individually, these are milestones. Collectively, they represent something more important:


AAM is no longer being proven. It is being normalized


That normalization is happening across platforms—not just eVTOL, but eCTOL and hybrid systems—each aligning to different missions: urban mobility, regional transport, cargo, and defense.


And as that happens, the center of gravity shifts. The question is no longer whether these aircraft can fly. It’s whether people believe they can—and whether systems are ready to support them. Because despite technical progress, a gap still exists.


A credibility gap:


  • Public trust in safety and reliability

  • Industry confidence in scalability

  • Institutional readiness to integrate operations


Closing that gap is now the next phase for industry, regulators, operators, and public-sector partners. And it won’t be closed by test flights alone.


It will be closed by:


  • Visible, repeatable operations

  • Real-world use cases delivering measurable value

  • Public-facing demonstrations that move AAM from abstract to tangible



Normalization in the air must now be matched by normalization on the ground
